Social Businesses to Pitch for Funding at Perth Impact Seed Event

June 1, 2016

Perth’s for-profit social enterprises and impact investors will gather at a pitch event on Tuesday 26 July during the Social Impact Festival 2016. The event is presented by new Perth organisation, Impact Seed, which aims to connect impact investors and social business founders.

The event features a keynote from Bessi Graham, CEO of The Difference Incubator (TDi), and co-founder of TDi, Benefit Capital and the Impact Investment Centre in Melbourne. For the last five years Bessi’s work has focused on helping unlock the power of impact investment and social enterprise. TDi and Benefit Capital do this through designing, delivering and securing funding for the necessary capacity building required to develop Investable Social Enterprises (ISEs) in order to tap “Private Capital for Public Good”.

Charlie Gunningham, CEO of Business News will MC the evening, during which five businesses will pitch, outlining their business model and social impact created. A panel including Bessi Graham, Derek Gerrard (Innovation Bay) and Professor Paul Flatau (UWA) will be judging the pitches, assisted by questions from the audience on the night.

All businesses receive assistance in developing their pitches for the event, and ongoing development assistance beyond the event from Impact Seed. The pitch night will just be the start of Impact Seed’s work with founders on a journey to foster and raise the profile of these for-profit and purpose businesses in the WA start-up community.

Register to attend the pitch evening to be held at the Woodside Auditorium at Hurry, registration is free and seating is strictly limited.
